Digital umbilical cord

Today's need to be connected to the web reactivates the nostalgic link of the fetus to mother's placenta by the umbilical cord. Hyperlinks, the new metaphor of our web navigations, but also more generally of the interpretation of our society and universe as hypertextes relay on the same desire of euphoric fusion with life and nature as a Whole. Links lead to the archaic myth of unity and its vivid dynamics.

Hyperlinks is another updated expression of older ways of thinking such as Confucius’s interpretation of nature and social ethics based on links, or the Polynesian mythology of Whakapapa explaining everything by links, or the traditional ways of behaving such as exchanging kisses, handshakes, or even enjoying sexual relations. It is all about the same: being linked to the Whole.
